ShowBird has acquired Plugify
Amsterdam – Corporate Finance International (‘CFI’) is pleased to announce that it acted as the exclusive corporate finance advisor to ShowBird Holding B.V. (‘ShowBird’), a leading Dutch booking platform for live entertainment, on the acquisition of the assets of Plugify B.V. (‘Plugify’), a booking platform for musicians. Plugify will continue as a separate brand within the ShowBird group.
ShowBird was born out of frustration to book entertainment for Mr Hassan Tagi’s own private festivities. From then on, his mission became to simplify booking of live entertainment for any occasion at any price level. ShowBird was founded in 2017 by Mr Tagi and has, since then, evolved into a leading booking platform in the Netherlands that fully unburdens both clients and entertainers. Clients have direct access to all available artists based on their preferred date and budget. Artists include for example DJs, singers, dancers, clowns and magicians.
Plugify, founded in 2016 by Ms Eline Leijten, is a well-known booking platform for musicians. Being an ambitious startup, Plugify raised funds through several rounds in the past years. Plugify is specifically focused on musicians, while ShowBird offers a wide variety of live entertainment. Also, unlike Plugify, ShowBird offers premium Dutch artists such as Guus Meeuwis and Jan Smit. The combination of ShowBird and Plugify is considered to be the largest booking platform for live entertainment in the Netherlands.
Founder of ShowBird, Mr Hassan Tagi, commented on the transaction: “ShowBird and Plugify are highly complementary, so we are very pleased that Plugify is now part of the ShowBird family. CFI has delivered a highly appreciated outcome for us, being able to close this transaction in a highly competitive context. With the live entertainment market starting to pick up again, we are looking forward to further strengthen our position as leading booking platform in the Netherlands.”
CFI orchestrated discussions and negotiations in the process that ultimately resulted in a successful acquisition of the assets of Plugify on 18 June 2020. This transaction further emphasises CFI’s leading position in the Software & IT sector.
