CFI advised Stripe International on its acquisition of the apparel business of NEM Group
Tokyo – CFI is pleased to announce the acquisition of the apparel business of NEM Group, the 2nd largest apparel manufacturer and retailer in Vietnam, by STRIPE INTERNATIONAL INC. (“Stripe”), a leading lifestyle, technology and apparel company based in Japan. Stripe has become the 1st Japanese apparel player to enter the Vietnamese retail market.
As the exclusive financial advisor on the buy-side, CFI supported the entire process including the introduction of the opportunity, due diligence, valuation, negotiations and closing. CFI was pivotal in driving consensus between both parties and in evaluating the business in a fair manner, resulting in a deal that both the vendor and buyer happily shook hands on.
With the opening of its first store in 1997, NEM Group is engaged in the manufacturing and retailing of its “NEM” branded apparel products. The Group currently operates over 40 stores across the country, which is the 2nd largest number in Vietnam. Supported by its dedicated and well-trained staff, NEM Group has experienced significant growth in the past few years.
With the acquisition of NEM Group, Stripe is poised to enter the next phase of growth, accelerating its Southeast Asia regional expansion.
The transaction closed on 20 November 2017.
