Hitachi has acquired Kyoto Robotics
Tokyo – Frontier Management Inc. (CFI Japan) is pleased to announce that they acted as financial advisor to Hitachi, Ltd. in the acquisition of Kyoto Robotics Corporation.
Hitachi, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, is focused on its Social Innovation Business that combines information technology (IT), operataional technology (OT) and products. Hitachi drives digital innovation across 5 sectors: Mobility, Smart Life, Industry, Energy and and IT.
Kyoto Robotics Corporation was originally named 3D MEDiA when it spun out of Ritsumeikan University in 2000. It was founded by president and CEO Gang Xu. It changed its name to Kyoto Robotics on January 1, 2018. It has partnered with a variety of industrial robot manufacturers to deliver 400-plus robotics systems, mainly in Japan, for palletizing and depalletizing applications.
The transaction closed in April 2021.
