Premier Forest has acquired the trade and assets of Bitus UK from Bergs Timber

Cardiff – CFI is pleased to announce that it acted as exclusive financial advisor to Premier Forest on its acquisition of the trade and assets of Bitus UK from Bergs Timber.

Premier Forest Group is one of the UK’s largest timber business covering importation, processing, merchanting and wholesale distribution of timber in the UK.

Bitus UK – formerly known in the trade as Continental Wood Products (CWP) – is an importer and bulk distributor of timber, panels and garden products serving industrial manufacturing, furniture-making, construction and merchanting sectors.

The Berg Group consists of a group of independent subsidiaries with clear responsibility for results that develops, produces and markets processed wood for various applications.

With many years of experience in wood and with great expertise in further processing, Bergs contributes to building a sustainable society based on renewable raw materials from sustainably managed forests in the Baltic Sea region. The business is conducted in Sweden, Latvia, Poland and the United Kingdom and sales are made to about 30 countries. The largest markets are Scandinavia, the Baltics, the United Kingdom and France.

Premier Forest will take on Bitus UK’s warehousing and distribution activities at the Baltic Distribution port-side facility based in Creeksea, Essex. Premier Forest has also taken on the Bitus UK sales office in Cirencester, where all members of staff have been retained.

“We’re very happy to welcome Bitus UK to the Premier Forest Group. The strategic dockside location of the site will enable us to improve operational efficiency by providing a more direct route to our customer base. We plan to expand the range of products distributed from Creeksea to include our whole portfolio, which includes the full range of softwoods, hardwoods and sheet materials, in order to create a one-stop-timber-shop for our customers,” says Terry Edgell, CEO and Co-founder at Premier Forest Products.
