Groupe Maïsadour has divested Comtesse du Barry to Jérôme Lassus, Ariane Daguin and Foie Gras d’Artigues
Paris – CFI is pleased to announce that it acted as exclusive financial advisor to Maïsadour, in the divestment of Comtesse du Barry to a consortium of food and beverage manufacturers including Jérôme Lassus, Ariane Daguin and Foie Gras d’Artigues.
Founded in 1908, Comtesse du Barry is a pioneering group in mail-order sales of gastronomic specialties from South-Western France, particularly renowned for having invented the block of foie gras. Acquired in 2011 by the Maïsadour cooperative, Comtesse du Barry has leveraged their expertise, particularly in smoked salmon and trout, Aquitaine caviar, and duck-based products.
Today, the Group is positioned as a leader in omnichannel distribution of premium fine food products in France. It benefits from integrated logistics based in Gimont (Gers, 32), serving a premium offering that showcases regional expertise.
For the year ending June 30, 2025, the Group generated revenues of €16.5M (23% in pâtés, terrines and rillettes, 22% in foie gras, 15% in salmon, caviar and fish specialties, 15% in ready meals, with the remainder in sweet grocery, wines, spirits and gift sets), for a total business volume of approximately €20M, entirely under its own brand.
The offering is structured around two channels:
- BtoC (69% of FY25 revenue): Own Stores (50%), Digital (12%) and Mail Order (7%)
- BtoB (31%): Travel Retail (11%), Franchises (8%), Export (8%) and Corporate Gifts (4%)
The Group operates 28 stores, including one in Monaco through its subsidiary Monaco Gastronomie, and 12 franchise stores located across France.
The development project is led by a consortium of South-West manufacturers, headed by Jérôme Lassus, new Chief Executive Officer. A recognised agri-food professional, he notably sold the Pousse Rapière liqueur and Château de Monluc to Vivadour.
Alongside him, Pascal Lannebère and Jérôme Sarciat, shareholders of D’Artigues Foie Gras, will contribute both strategic vision and a solid supply capacity for quality products.
In addition, Ariane Daguin, founder of D’Artagnan Foods and a pioneer in the commercialisation of duck products in America, will also contribute to the project. Drawing on her extensive network in the gastronomy world, she will support the commercial development of Comtesse du Barry.
Christophe Bonno, Chief Executive Officer of Maïsadour: “We were convinced by a solid, realistic project that is genuinely rooted in the values of the South-West. This collective of entrepreneurs has the assets and vision needed to give Comtesse du Barry a new lease of life.”
